ABOUT US

Founded in 1994 by Stefan Putter and joined in 1999 by Lourens Muller. Thaka Safari’s has for over almost three decades, stuck to a very simple but important vision: Honesty, integrity and quality.

An authentic hunting experience, as close and true to nature as can be desired is what you as a client can expect at Thaka Safari’s.

Building memories and making dreams a reality has become second nature with the owners and staff at Thaka Safari’s.  With combined experience of over 50 years in hunting all of the dangerous and plains game animals Africa has to offer, clients will have a safe but challenging environment in which each and every hunt will take place.

Trophy hunting over the last almost forty years has become a very desirable adventure for many overseas hunters, and South Africa as a destination for this, is very popular for a number of reasons.

Location – with South Africa being situated at 30.5595˚S longitude and 22.9375˚E latitude, the climate is almost always very desirable. Winters can dip to a low of about 32˚F, but in our main hunting area, which is the Limpopo province, on average you can expect temperatures between 40˚F and 70˚F at midday.

Conservation – a study in the early 1980’s has shown that a total of around 700 000 head of game animals was on private land in South Africa.  Conservation through sustainable utilization is a concept that was founded by hunters for hunters, and this worked!  A study in 2019 showed that the number of game animals on private land is now an estimated 23 000 000!  So you can do the math for yourself and see who the actual conservationists are.

Not only does South Africa have a huge variety of game animals, but also a huge variety of habitats. Different habitats means the ability to supply and sustain all of these different species.  From broken woodland to coastal forest, from semi-desert and Kalahari Desert to Mopani and Baobab bushveld.  We have the infrastructure, knowledge and ability to hunt it all and meet every client’s needs and demands.  South Africa has over 30 hunt-able game species, from blue duiker to elephants, and all of them are found in some or other part of our hunting areas.

The hunting location for your trip depends largely on the client’s wants and needs.  As most of the high demand and popular trophy species like Kudu, Eland, Gemsbuck, Bluewildebeest, Zebra, Impala, Warthog, Waterbuck, Bushbuck, Buffalo, Nyala etc. are found in our Limpopo areas, this is a very popular area for our clients.
